FREE Vegan Protein and Green Powder

Hey

A little while ago I was contacted by a company called Nuzest asking if I would be interested in trying their protein powder and green powder, they said they had seen my site and knew that I liked to give stuff away now and then, so would even send me some extras to give away to a lucky reader ūüôā

So along with the review will also be a chance to win a weeks supply of Vegan protein powder, a weeks supply of green powder and a Nuzest branded shaker

(FREE STUFFS!)

I used Nuzest in the run up to the Vegan Bunny arriving from the states when I was trying to eat better, exercise and lose some weight, I did manage to lose just shy of a stone (14lbs)¬† in four weeks. And as I was using my fitness pal I could see how Nuzest really helped my nutrient intakes and balance my macros to boost my protein ratio.¬† Sadly, since then I have put on a couple of pound.¬† Bunny cooks amazing and we have been going on days out so I haven’t had time or inclination to do the exercises I was doing or to track my calories.¬† But that has changed now, a little more on that in a separate post maybe as I start a journey towards more whole foods and refined sugar free and playing baseball in the South West Baseball League.

(Weight loss within the first month…..before putting some back on again ūüė¶ )

The protein powders are delicious.¬† I have tried shake powders before from the likes of Juice Plus, and have never really enjoyed them.¬† But the Nuzest powder was amazing.¬† It had a little bit of a powdery aftertaste which is to be expected as I used plain soy milk to mix with it.¬† I tried the Vanilla, Wild Strawberry and Rich Chocolate flavours and although I am not much of a chocolate shake fan, it was so so so good.¬† It actually feels like a treat when you drink it.¬† The Vanilla is really tasty and the Wild Strawberry is so freaking good (we use this to make “protein fruit bowls), and if I was buying them in the future (and I feel I will do) I would buy all three flavours to be able to change up between them.¬† I could imagine the Vanilla being more versatile if you were to make smoothies with fruit etc., the chocolate much better for when you are out and about and want to make a quick shake without access to a ninja (or other blender of choice) and the Wild Strawberry for our fruit bowls (We mix up the protein powder with unsweetened soy milk and pour over a bowl of chopped bananas, sliced green and red apples, rolled oats, Strawberries, ground flaxseed and dried goji berries.¬† Topped with a dusting of cinnamon and chia seeds, seriously it is delicious.

A little about Nuzest as taken from their Site:

All Natural, 100% Vegetable & Allergen Free

The world‚Äôs highest source of plant protein ‚Äď and it‚Äôs Paleo friendly too!
Clean Lean Protein is allergen-free and great for the whole family.  No gluten, dairy, soy, nuts or eggs.  No fillers, additives or preserveatives.  No added sugar or artificial sweetners.  Just clean, lean, European Golden Pea plant protein with delicious natural flavours.

I wont write everything word for word, but you can see how the protein powder is pretty damn awesome.  98% digestibility rating.  pH level of 7.8 making it one of the few alkaline proteins.  Up to 90% protein content (making it higher than meat, fish or eggs and on par with Whey protein but without the sugars, additives etc.)  Contains all nine essential amino acids and more and is particularly high in glutamine; and most importantly no animals die to make it!  Good for you and the animals!  Win-Win

Now, the green powder……I hate green powders.¬† I had been taking “Amazing Grass Green Superfood Antioxidant” green powder which isn’t pleasant.¬† It is supposed to be sweet and fruity….but, yeah, it’s green powder so I just mix it up and then down it in one and wash it away with water.¬† I was preparing myself for the Nuzest one because nutritionally it looks amazing, it seems to have so much goodness in it, and the right type of goodness from great sources, so I was expecting it to taste like utter crap.¬† Anything that good for you must do, right?¬† Well, I made the mistake of smelling it first and my god…..I know¬†spirulina is amazingly good for you but it smells so bad.¬† Its what makes most green powders taste bad in my opinion.¬† The green powder from Nuzest, is packed with amazingly good stuff and I feel confident saying it is the best green powder I have taken and the best one I have seen when looking for green powders in the past.¬† Also, my barometer for how healthy/beneficial/good something is, is the Vegan Bunny and when she saw the ingredients and nutritional values not only did she say that it was good, but she took it too!¬† Now, the Vegan Bunny is on quite a restrictive diet due to health concerns we are currently awaiting diagnosis on, so she is refined sugar free, vegan (obviously, all the best people are), low carb, predominantly raw, fruits with low glycemic index scores etc.¬† So, for Bunny to not only say this stuff is good, but to also take it, tells me all I need to know.¬† I will say though, I mixed this powder with water.¬† I try and make a small glass and then down it in one because I know green powder tastes vile.¬† This stuff….wow, the third time I took it, I actually urged and dry heaved.¬† If the marketing team happen to read this, they should start a #NuzestGreenPowderChallenge and have people make a glass of it and down it in one, then tag their friends to try it, because I found it hard going. But, check out the stats from my fitness pal for just one serving of this stuff.

(Pretty freaking good right?  And you should see the breakdown of ingredients, further down the page!)

Even though I was heaving and eyes watering; and I joke about how it tasted mixed with water, I still took it because of how good the nutrition is.¬† I only stopped taking it when I ran out of samples.¬† I did contact Nuzest and asked for some ideas to make it taste better, and they suggested making a smoothie with it.¬† I didn’t get to try that, but I have ordered a single sachet from their site to give this a go.¬† My main concern is that the sachet will still taste bad and I will have a big ole smoothie to drink.
I sound like I am being negative, but its only because I want to be honest and also highlight the fact that although I thought it tasted like a really weak hot chocolate made with the water from Brixham harbour, it is still so packed with so much goodness that I drank it every morning!¬† I have heard from others who blended it into a smoothie saying it isn’t noticeable so I will definitely be trying that in the future.

Honestly, give it a go.  You may not find it bad at all.  Here is a link to a single sachet you can buy and try for yourself.  Go get one, make it with water and down it in one.  Film yourself and tag me so I can see then tag 3 people who you think will give it a go.

If you want to win the bundle shown at the top of 5 protein shakes (3 x Vanilla, 2 x Rich Chocolate), 5 x Green Powder and 1 x Branded Shaker (with storage in the base for powder, cereal, snacks etc), just go to either Facebook or Instagram or on here and give a follow and comment on the bundle picture post (can be any comment so long as it is relevant, it just prevents me accidentally picking an automated liker/commenter).  Due to postage, I will only be able to send to someone from the UK, so please bear that in mind

I will be buying it again.  Me and Bunny are adjusting our diets and lifestyles a little.  I am heading towards refined sugar free and whole foods, we are both getting more active as we play baseball for Newton Abbot Brewers, so this green powder and protein powder will be part of our arsenal.  I have already ordered more protein powder because it just helps so much to boost the protein to carb to fat ratio in my diet.  I am getting pretty good now, with carbs being just over 50% and fats being just over 30% leaving my protein in the mid to late teens, but to give me a little boost over that and try and adjust those percentages, the protein powder is awesome.
